Location: Phoenix, AZ
Project size: 7,000 sqft
In the Willo historic neighborhood in downtown Phoenix, MDG was able to work with another local landscape design firm to create a unique, front yard Agave Parterre and an extraordinary desert botanical garden in the back. The 1920’s architecture of the home dictated the special planting pattern of over 15 types of agave in the front yard. With their combined knowledge of plant materials, over 120 species were introduced to bring a variety of colors and textures, while attracting all sorts of local wildlife. The desert-native/adapted plant palette uses minimal water and defines several different entertaining spaces. A custom-designed, low-flow drip irrigation system supplements the garden throughout the summer months.
